Khukhu festival celebrated at Porba

Porbami village observed ‘Khukhu’ on August 15, a traditional unmarried girl’s festive and merry making event which is celebrated every year in the month of August. The event is called ‘Khukhu’ meaning giving of ‘food’ to a young girl by relatives. 
Khukhu celebration involves both young and old girls to decorate the selected house with various types of beautiful plants in full traditional attire.
On Khukhu the young girls share with their food with the spirits as well. They also play different traditional and modern games and sports. Khukhu holds a lot of meaningful traditional value along with the festivity.
