Khumiasii Students’ Union (KKK) held its first conference on December 29 and 30 at the village council hall under the theme “Charged, Set and Head-on”.
The session was held with department of social welfare, joint secretary Z. Nyusietho Nyuthe as chief guest, Shiekutho Nyusuo as theme speaker and Brother Tholitho Nyuwi, M. Div Seton Hall University, New Jersey, USA, Chukhapa Poji, Asst. Prof. Pfutsero College, James Zutsiitho Nyuthe, Programme officer, Action Aid, New Delhi and M. Shimray Nyuthe assistant HOD. Caritas India, New Delhi as resource persons.
During the session, the chief guest stressed on acquiring knowledge through hard work and not by means of imitating others, emphasizing the need to know one’s own root and background.
He cautioned the students to utilize their parents’ resources judiciously, sharing his own life on how he limited his demands from his parents who were cultivators while theme speaker Shiekutho Nyusuo said as Khumiasii students’ body taking its first step, they should also be charged fully and be well prepared to set out and head-on to achieve higher goals.
Resource person Tholitho Nyuwi exhorted the students to change their attitudes to inculcate hard work, integrity, self-respect and dignity of labour in order to succeed in life and achieve greater heights.
Meanwhile, resource person, Chukhapa Poji shared on how success can be achieved. He reiterated that “All are born to win if one wants to succeed; one should learn how to succeed and do with discipline and hard work”. James Zutsiitho Nyuthe while exhorting the students also conducted a mini workshop on “resource politics” on how the resources in general have been manipulated by few individuals who have power- connection and influence in society.
He said people should come out from the culture of silence and raise their voice in a democratic way for a better society and M. Shimray Nyuthe, called upon the students to be man of integrity, self-respect, honesty, hard work, simplicity and humility and leave a good legacy as leaders of the society.
It was further informed that Khumiasii Students Union de-affiliated from Meluri Students Union on January 7, 2014, and became the 17th Unit of the Pochury Students Union (PSU)
