Kigwema-Chakabama highway has been affected very badly due to inclement weather for the past few months which has caused mud sliding and sinking below Kigwema Village.
The villagers have been trying their best to restore the road especially for light vehicles with both manpower and local materials available for the last two weeks.
This highway in the main life line for Mima and Mitelephe, it is also an alternative route from Phek and Zunheboto districts, which connects Kohima.
Sources from Kigwema Village Council (KVC) and Kigwema Youth Organization (KYO) said they have apprised the situation with the concern authority for immediate remedial measures in order to restored the highway for travellers.
Sources said if the situation was not addressed in time and if the rain continues, properties would be destroyed. Both the council and youth organisation have appealed the concerned department to take up the matters at top priority.
