Kigwema villagers benefit from health camp

DIMAPUR: A multispeciality cum cancer screening camp was conducted at Kigwema Village on June 28, registering 227 participants and providing a total of 459 free consultations across various specialities including obstetrics, gynaecology, ophthalmology, general medicine, surgery and dental care. Services included blood tests, ultrasonography, minor procedures and 164 cancer screenings for oral and cervical cancer. Free medicines were also distributed to beneficiaries.
The camp was organised by Dr. K & T Keditsu Foundation, a registered public charitable trust, in collaboration with the National Oral Health Programme (NOHP), Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Government of Nagaland, with support from Biocon Foundation, Bengaluru and Putuonuo Hospital, Kohima.
The programme, held at Kigwema Government Middle School, began with a welcome address by site coordinator Nutsovolu, MSW, followed by introduction of the medical team by Dr. Kezevituo Keditsu, founding trustee of Dr. K & T Keditsu Foundation.
A talk on oral health and cancer awareness was delivered by Dr. Aneizo Khruomo, MDS Dental Surgeon, District Hospital Peren. The vote of thanks was proposed by Khomeze Jacob Mera, VCC Kigwema, and the session concluded with a prayer by Siechalie Yhoshü, Village Health chairman, Kigwema.
A total of 35 medical personnel participated, including eight doctors and 22 paramedics from Putuonuo, NHAK, DOHFW and private hospitals/clinics, along with five social workers from Dr. K & T Keditsu Foundation.
