Kuki Inpi Nagaland (KIN) has drawn the attention of the government of and the concerned department in regard to the road conditions at Ahthibung area of Peren district and to take immediate steps to clear the road block.
A press note by KIN president, L. Gangte stated that on August 28, the road was completely washed away by the river and the lifeline to Ahthibung and Khelma area has been totally cut off. Adding to the misery of the situation, KIN stationed at Ahthibung stated that when it tried to visit the spot, several landslides between Chalkot and Saijang villages had totally blocked the road and officials could not proceed.
In this regard, KIN has appealed concerned department and government to clear the road blocks and construct proper protection wall at the site where the road had been washed away by the river.
KIN also suggested for diverting the tributaries of River Manglaou away from the road into the main river so that the road was not washed away again.
Meanwhile, KIN also expressed gratitude to district administration and commandant of 9th IR Battalion for clearing the landslide below Saijang village near Manglou bridge.
