After through discussion, the civil society organizations (CSOs) in Kiphire on Friday have agreed to allow the intending candidates to file nominations for the ensuing Pungro town council election on the last date (January 7).
However, as per the bond, the candidates would have to withdraw the nomination anytime when asked to by Kiphire CSOs.
The decision was taken at the meeting attended by United Sangtam Likhum Pumji (USLP), Eastern Sumi Hoho (ESH), Tikhir Tribal Council (TTC), GBs of Kiphire and the intending candidates on Friday.
Earlier, the members of USLP, ESH and TTC gathered at DC office compound Kiphire to prevent filing nominations on Friday.
Meanwhile, January 7 being the last date for filing nomination, ADC and RO Kiphire, Dr.Tinojongshi Chang, has issued an order restricting movement/entry of public inside DC office compound Kiphire with certain limitation till the filing of nomination was completed.
14 file nomination in PTC
Fourteen candidates filed nomination papers for Pungro town Council (PTC) on Friday.
According to ADC Pungro, eight candidates from NPF and six Independents filed nomination for nine wards. It was also expected that more candidates to file nomination on the last day.
