As per the directive of Nagaland Police Headquarters (PHQ), an Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) under a gazetted officer has been set up, informed Superintendent of Police (SP) Kiphire, K. Swarnambika.
In a press note, SP Kiphire informed that the district police would be undertaking various initiatives to curb the “menace of drug abuse in the Naga Society under Kiphire district”.
Apart from proactive awareness programmes, SP Kiphire also informed that the ANTF would be conducting raids, Mobile Vehicular Check Posts (MVCPs) to check the drug smuggling. The SP has requested public cooperation and has urged them to take e-pledge “Say Yes to Life, No to Drugs”, an initiative by National Narcotics Coordination Portal. (NCORD) under the
aegis of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) through the provided link – https://narcoordindia.in/epledge.php, to instil sense of moral responsibility among the citizens to fight against drug menace.
Meanwhile, SP Kiphire has requested the state government to construct more children parks, public parks, indoor and outdoor games zone area in the district to keep the youngsters engaged in free time and away from drugs. She has requested all the civil society organisations, religious institutions, village councils, educational institutions, political organisations, media and general public to come forward to fight against drug abuse since it is a collective responsibility of the society.
