
V.K.TOWN: Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Nagaland University (NU) organized Kisan Mela at V.K. Town, Zunheboto on June 30 with Littami new, Phisumi, Sastami and Maromi village.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, programme coordinator Dr. Rakesh Kumar Chaurasia urged the farmers to take up new technology like new breeds of animals and latest varieties of crops for maximum profit.
NU deputy registrar Otova asked the farming community to go for integrated approach in agricultural sector to earn more profit and to go for large scale production of cash crops which can provide better market and income. He also visited the stalls and interacted with the farmers.
During mela, KVK provided platform to the farmers to discuss about various problems faced by them in the field of animals, plants and soil and provided them with the required solutions.
Animal health camp, plant health camp, soil health camp was also organized and free medicines were distributed to the needy families. KVK also displayed the location of specific technologies available with them in agriculture and allied field.
The resource persons were SMS, Agronomy Visakho Shunyu, SMS, Plant Protection Wapangtoshi Longkumer, SMS, Animal Science Dr. Z. Nongothung Ezung, SMS Soil Science Sentimenla and Programme Assistant, Home Science Narola Anichari.
KIGWEMA: ATMA, Jakhama block inaugurated Kiwi Farm School at Shurho view point, Kigwema village with SMS (Jr) DAO, Kohima Khriesezolie Kire as resource person and appointed a progressive Kiwi Farmer Neiphrezo Thosrie as farm school teacher.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Kire said kiwi has a huge demand because of its rsich source in vitamin C essential for immune system functioning, rich source of fiber and many other minerals.
He also encouraged the farmers to cultivate more Kiwi plants and challenged them to motivate other fellow farmers in the field of sustainable agricultural crops.
BTT convener, T. Wabang Longkumer while delivering keynote address, highlighted the concept of farm school and its objectives, role of farm school teacher and basic concept on the functioning of ATMA scheme with the aligned departments. Training on the application of biochemical fertilizer on soya bean was also conducted by the resource person AO (II) Myanthung Patton. He presented the method on preparation and application of biochemical fertilizer paste for soya bean.
During interaction session farmers shared their activities and needs. They also requested ATMA scheme to deliver maximum information available. Soya bean seeds and some biochemical fertilizers were also distributed to farmers.
SHEYIPU: Agricultural technology management agency (ATMA) Zunheboto had inaugurated a pineapple farm school at Sheyipu village on June 24. Resource persons SO (Soil) and BTT convenor, Visheto Assumi and AO (Agri) BTT member Lutovi spoke on the “economic value” of the fruit and “maintenance of the farm and pest management”. There were 18 participant farmers along with ATMA staff where Visheto I Zhimo was appointed as the farm school teacher.
