Western Sumi Hoho (WSH) has expressed serious concern and alarm over the rampant illegal development activities at the disputed Kiyevi village land in violation of status quo order.
In a statement, the hoho said it was highly disturbed by the constant development works that were being undertaken in and around the Lamhainamdi settlement, despite the government order dated June 25, 2019 for maintaining status quo in the area.
On the strength of the status quo order, the hoho said people of Kiyevi village had been strictly restrained from carrying out any activities, including cultivation in their bona fide farmlands, plantations, etc, whereas, on the other hand, settlers of Lamhainamdi continued unabated with major development works in and around the settlement.
More alarmingly, WSH mentioned that it had also been reliably brought to its knowledge that the rampant development activities in the disputed areas were being allegedly perpetrated and escalated with the direct involvement, help, support and assistance of home minister Y Patton and Parliamentary Affairs minister KG Kenye.
The hoho stated that the actions of the leaders had raised grave concerns and sparked serious questions about their true intentions and commitment to preserving communal harmony and peace within the Naga community. It pointed out that this not only violated the government’s status quo order but also fueled communal discord and violence among communities.
WSH urged all right-thinking Nagas to take notice of this high-handedness by some high-profile leaders and ministers, who were pumping huge resources into the illegal development of a disputed area.
