
Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) held its first monthly meeting for the year, under the chairmanship of Kohima deputy commissioner and vice chairman DPDB, Rovilato Mor, IAS at DPDB conference hall, Friday.
Agendas such as Village Adoption Committee (VAC), issue of forest fire at Dzükou and Puliebadze and Republic Day arrangements were discussed.
Rovilato informed that Kohima DPDB has introduced VAC, which other districts were keen to adopt similar programme.
While congratulating the former VACs, Rovilato also apprised the stages for implementation of VAC and criteria of judgments for the best two adoption teams- one in rural and one in urban.
Rovilato urged VACs to maintain the spirit of development and also to encourage self-reliance and self-contribution in their respective wards or villages.
Raising concerns over issue of forest fire in Dzükou and Puliebadze, Rovilato called for a meeting with allied departments and NGOs to prepare for any such eventuality at DC conference hall on 28 January, 12 p.m.
The DC also read out the programme and participants for the forthcoming Republic day celebration, for which preparation would begin on 19 January.
ADC planning and member Secretary DPDB Kohima, Ketoho Luho informed that DPDB Chairman had enhanced the prize money for best VAC from 1 Lakh to 1.5 Lakh.
He said that due to change of criteria, six villages under Kohima districts would be sensitized.
Luho futher informed that Kohima DPDB had successfully completed 12 sittings for the year 2015.
It may be mentioned that, according to local area development program 2015-16 by DPDB Kohima, Kohima district has total urban population of 267,988 and rural population of 121,088 with sex ratio female/male as 928/1000.
Kohima district has literacy rate (person) 85.28% while decadal growth rate of 22.8 and also has 90 recognized villages.
Kohima district lies at 1,444 meter altitude above sea level receiving rainfall of 150 cm-200 cm, with temperature of maximum 28.-30. C and minimum 04.C.
