KMC directs business establishments

Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has directed all business establishments and shops within its jurisdiction to keep portable fire extinguishers in their premises on or before May 31, 2025.

KMC Chief Executive Officer, T. Lanusenla Longkumer, informed that the directive has been issued in response to the potential risks of fire outbreaks in commercial establishments, which could lead to loss of life, property, and livelihood, and in line with the guidelines set by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA).

KMC informed that acknowledging the shortage of fire extinguishers in Kohima, it has taken the initiative to procure them and will make them available at a nominal rate. The fire extinguisher can be collected from the KMC office during working hours starting April 14, 2025.
