DIMAPUR

Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has directed all business establishments and shops under its jurisdiction to keep portable fire extinguishers at their premises. In a press release, KMC Chief Executive Officer, Zapuno Sophie stated that the directive follows an earlier order issued on March 29, 2025 and aligns with Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) guidelines.
The move aims to ensure public safety and security of premises, and is mandatory for all concerned establishments. KMC also acknowledged supply issues and informed that those facing difficulty in procuring extinguishers may contact the office during working hours for assistance.
