Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) through a notification has informed that following the detection of African Swine Fever (ASF) at various locations in Kohima district, and as per DC’s order dated April 16, the following areas have been declared as surveillance zone/infected zone.
According to KMC administrator T. Lanusenla Longkumer areas within 1km radius has been declared as infected zones. The areas under 10 km radius from infected premises (9km radius outside the infected zone) has been declared as surveillance zones.
In this regard, the following restrictions have been imposed in the aforementioned location until further order– ban on slaughter of pigs, ban on import and export of pigs and piglets and ban on transportation of pigs and pork.
It also informed all concerned butchers, piglet dealers and wards under Kohima jurisdiction to strictly adhere to DC’s order and to report of any suspicions to the concerned department to contain the disease at the earliest.
