Khonoma Nature Conservation and Tragopan Sanctuary (KNCTS) will be commemorating 25 years of Environmental Stewardship on December 12. The event will be graced by chief minister, Neiphiu Rio.
KNCTS 25 anniversary, media and publicity committee, Kejaroko Pieru informed that two eminent patrons – LH Thangi Mannen, Rtd. commissioner and secretary, and Thepfülhouvi Solo, Retd. principal secretary, who has been instrumental in the formative years and journey of KNCTS will also grace the event.
The occasion will not only reflect on Khonoma’s remarkable journey from hunters to conservationists but also highlight the village’s evolution into a thriving tourist destination.
KNCTS established in 1998, has transformed from a hunting community to dedicated conservationists.
The village’s recognition as the First Green Village of India and inclusion in prestigious global programs such as UNWTO Tourism Village Upgrade underscores Khonoma’s commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainable tourism.
