The Kyong Nchumchio Okho (KNO) will organize “Tokhu Nite” on November 7 at the Multi-Disciplinary Sports Complex (State Stadium), opposite DC Court, Dimapur, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The musical extravaganza, which is open to the public free of cost, aims to provide a platform for budding youth talent, promote emerging artists and honour veteran Lotha musicians.
Addressing a press conference, KNO officials said the event was being organized in connection with the post-harvest Tokhu Emong festival of the Lotha community. However, they emphasized that the programme was open to people from all tribes and communities.
Member of the Nagaland State Human Rights Commission (NSHRC), R. Nzambemo Lotha, will grace the occasion as the special guest.
The highlight of the evening will be a performance by the renowned 15th NAP (IR) Mahila Band, Nagaland’s all-women police band, which gained national recognition after emerging as finalists in Season 10 of India’s Got Talent.
The musical lineup will feature prominent Lotha singers, including Lungka performing alongside Yan, Thungbemo Humtsoe, lead vocalist of Struggler Boys, and Meribeni Patton. Emerging artists Lideno Murry, Mhadjan, Zaren, Chumbemo and Liban will also perform.
Adding variety to the evening, the programme will feature a comedy act by Wopen Tsopoe, alongside musical performances by Hindi boy band The Finalists and rock-metal fusion outfit Asaro.
Besides the musical performances, food and beverage stalls featuring indigenous Lotha cuisine will be set up at the venue, providing visitors an opportunity to experience traditional delicacies.
Regarding security arrangements, the organizers informed that event volunteers would coordinate with West Police Station to ensure the smooth and peaceful conduct of the programme. They also made it clear that consumption of alcohol and intoxicated behaviour would be strictly prohibited within the stadium premises to maintain a safe and family-friendly atmosphere.
The KNO expressed gratitude to the Deputy Chief Minister of Nagaland, the Director General of Police, the Police Headquarters (PHQ) team and the Commandant of the 15th NAP (IR) for their cooperation and support in organizing the event.
