Kohima Nyiro Range Union (KNRU) expressed serious concern over the lack of development at Nyiro Range under Wokha district.
A press release issued by KNRU chairman, Nyimbemo Ngullie and secretary, Khonthungo Kikon informed that Nyiro Range which comprises of seven villages with a population of more than 15 thousand is the “Most Neglected Area” among the three ranges under 37th Tyui AC. It stated that people in the area has been facing unbearable hardships due to the poor and deplorable road condition, adding that even dead bodies cannot be transported beyond Yanthamo village particularly during rainy season. KNRU regretted that, Nyiro range road has been the chorus of the candidates during election campaign, for some, it is their promise and commitment but it remains only in “letter”.
KNRU also stated that besides the road, there has been no visible development in the area; in spite of fulfilling the eligibility criteria, there is no EAC post at Nyiro till date, no regular doctor at PHC Nyiro, no proper water supply and no significant development in the area, thereby urging every right thinking people of Nyiro range to view the matter seriously.
Considering the backwardness and lack of development in the range, KNRU for the benefit of the general public, appealed to the people of Nyiro range irrespective of their political affiliation, not to fall prey before the candidates who only gives false promises and assurances without committing to do for the welfare of the people. The union urged the people in the area to support and elect the right candidate who can truly represent its people and bring positive development in the area.
The union further appealed the people not to indulge in violence but to support “Clean Election Campaign” being initiated by NBCC.
