KNSK welcomes govt initiative to review job reservation policy

DIMAPUR

The Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong (KNSK) has expressed profound gratitude to the Government of Nagaland for initiating a review of the State Job Reservation Policy, terming it a long-awaited step towards fairness and justice.
In a press release, Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong president Ponglem Konyak and assistant general secretary L. Ejiwangnyu, stated that the move reflects the government’s commitment to addressing public concerns over equitable representation. It extended solidarity to the Konyak Students’ Union, which has consistently advocated for restructuring the policy in proportion to actual population ratios.
Konyak Nyupuh Sheko Khong pointed out that although the Konyak community constitutes 13.90% of the State’s population, its share in employment stands at only 2.80%, highlighting a significant disparity. It emphasized that the original intent of the reservation policy was to uplift weaker sections, but over time, the system has failed to bridge the gap and instead widened inequalities.
The organisation endorsed the Konyak Students’ Union’s democratic demand for a comprehensive review and urged the government to ensure transparency and a defined timeframe in the process.
