Kohima, Chiephobozou elect ULB chairmen

Newly elected members of Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) and Chiephobozou Town Council (CTC) elected their respective chairmen and deputy chairmen following a joint meeting between High Powered Committee (HPC) and the two councils separately on Monday at the NDPP headquarters, Kohima.
A total of 22 NDPP councillors–13 of KMC and 9 of CTC–attended the meeting.


NDPP High Power Committee (HPC) is headed by legislator-incharge and minister women resource and horticulture, Salhoutuonuo Kruse; advisor of school education and SCERT, Dr. Kekhrielhoulie Yhome, CEB vice president, Theyiekielie Tachü and NDPP Kohima region president, Prasielie Pienyü.


At the meeting, HPC members outlined the responsibilities and provisions governing the ULB functions and subsequently the elected councillors proceeded to elect their respective leaders through a democratic process.


For KMC, Neikhozo Suokhrie, was elected as the chairperson. His name was nominated by Avilie Rio and seconded by Thejavizo Philip Solo. Concurrently, Khrielevi Chüsi was elected as the deputy chairperson. His name was proposed by Kazheli Tungoe and seconded by Ketousie Khamo.


In a unanimous decision, Khrielelie Kerhü-o was elected as the chairman of CTC after his name was proposed by Lhoubeituo Kezie-o and seconded by Khrielievinuo Angami. Kekhrieneinuo Zumvü was also unanimously elected as the deputy chairman of the CTC after her name was proposed by Keviseilie Rüpreo and seconded by Kiyasetuo Kengurüse.


The newly elected chairperson and deputy chairperson are expected to assume their respective roles to facilitate governance and development initiatives within Kohima district.
