Kohima District Football Association holds thanksgiving prog

The Kohima District Football Association (KDFA) organised a thanksgiving programme at Hotel 2K, Kohima, to mark the culmination of the team’s campaign in the Dr. T. Ao Trophy—24th Inter-District Football Championship 2025. This year’s edition was also hosted by Kohima district.
Speaking on the occasion, KDFA president Mhasimhalie Mathew Yhome underscored the importance of discipline and long-term vision in sports. He urged players to remain physically fit, set clear goals, and pursue them with sincerity and hard work. Yhome also reminded student-athletes to give equal importance to academics, pointing out that education and sports must progress hand in hand.
KDFA finance secretary and team manager, Metekhrielie Mejura, highlighted the managerial aspects of the campaign and acknowledged the support extended to the team in various forms—financially, physically and materially.
Team coach, Kechi Kulimbe, lauded the players for their commitment and reflected on the matches played till the semi-finals. He encouraged the squad, particularly the younger players, to prepare themselves for tougher challenges in the future.
Team captain, Kevisanyü Peseyie, shared his experiences from the tournament and called upon his teammates to continue striving to bring laurels to Kohima district in future championships. Best Defender of the Championship, Thejangulie Zatsu, also spoke briefly, expressing gratitude to KDFA for the opportunity to represent the district.
Acknowledging the collective efforts of the players, KDFA joint secretary, Viliebeizo Liezietsu, said their performance was commendable. The programme began with a prayer by KDFA executive member, Pudil Tsukrü, and concluded with a note of gratitude delivered by KDFA women coordinator, Dziesevinuo Yhoshü. The programme was chaired by KDFA press secretary, Medolenuo Ambrocia Loucü.
