Kohima district level science exhibition

Kohima district level science exhibition with the theme “science and technology for sustainable development” was organized by the district education officer (DEO) Kohima  at St. Mary’s Cathedral Higher Secondary School (SMCHSS) Kohima with commissioner and secretary, Works and Housing Rovilatuo Mor as special guest on Wednesday.

Special guest in his address said science and technology continue to dominant every sphere of life and it would continue in future too. In this regard, he asked the students to give importance and interest to the science subject, explore more on science and technology and to improve and uplift life standard. While stating various benefit points by using science and technology, he also cautioned the students to make use of it for one’s benefit and not to destroy life.  

Encouraging the participants to do research, and that the state being agri based land, he asked the students’ community to do research related to agriculture production for better economy. Mor advised the students to put into practice what they have learned for the benefit of the society.

Programme was chaired by Kepelhouzo Terhüja senior SDEO Kohima, welcome address by Dojü Khate DEO Kohima and special song presented by students of St. Mary’s Cathedral HSS Kohima.

In individual category, Lemei(class 12 of Model HSS Kohima, Kekhriesino Meyase class 9 of Mezhür HSS Kohima and Hopila Thongru class 11 of Ministers’ HBHSS Kohima bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively.

In team category, Nongoto Lcho class12 and Nowhevito Nagi class 12 of Model HSS Kohima, Niketo Tuccu class 10 and Ifkali Yepthomi class 10 of St. Mary’s HSS Kohima, and Chosenül class 11 & Jetsoi class 11 of Mezhür HSS Kohima bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes respectively. The first winner of each category individual and team would represent Kohima district at the state level science exhibition to be held on November 7 at Rüzhükhrie GHSS Kohima.   

Altogether 10 schools from Kohima district participated at the exhibition including 6 individual projects and 8 team projects. The jurists in the panel were Pungozünü PGT RGHSS, Mhalo Z Kikon PGT Mezhür HSS  and  K. Gambhir Singh PGT Model HSS.
