DIMAPUR: A District Level Core Committee meeting on the Village Prosperity Resilience Plan (VPRP) 2027–28 was held at the DC Conference Hall, Kohima on Thursday focusing on participatory and people-centred development planning.
According to a DIPR report, Deputy Commissioner Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, stressed that the VPRP must go beyond being a planning document and ensure genuine community needs are translated into effective implementation and tangible outcomes. He called for convergence among line departments and urged stakeholders to reflect emerging priorities in their action plans.
State Project Coordinator D. Elow explained the multi-level process of VPRP preparation, from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) and Village Organisations (VOs) to Gram Panchayat/Village Council levels. He highlighted the role of line departments in providing scheme information, technical assistance, and support to Community Based Organisations (CBOs).
Presentations on non-farm livelihood activities in Kohima district were delivered by District Functional Specialists, Khriezhatuo Khezhie and Vilalhounuo Solo. The meeting also discussed livelihood initiatives, challenges and convergence opportunities involving departments such as Health and Family Welfare, Agriculture, Social Welfare, Rural Development and Animal Husbandry.
Buchem further emphasized effective mobilisation through special Gram Sabhas to educate villagers, identify genuine priorities and ensure appropriate plans are incorporated into the VPRP and integrated with the Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP).
