As part of its year-long activities 2014-15, the Kohima DPDB has selected 4 villages and 2 Wards, one in each Assembly Constituency to be adopted by a committee consisting of 10 district departmental heads with the concerned elected members as advisor.
The committees would be headed by Executive Engineers with one member to be selected amongst the members as Member Secretary. The Board had earmarked an amount of Rs 1 lakh for each committee for meeting the necessary expenditure. The two best teams would be (Rural and Urban) awarded at the end of the year with an amount of Rs 25,000 each based on given criteria which would be evaluated by Core Committee.
The following Wards/ Villages including Western Angami A/C – Thekrejüna, 9th Kohima Town – Naga Bazar, 10th Northern Angami A/C – Bayavü, 11th Northern Angami A/C – Tsiemekhu Bawe, 14th Southern Angami A/C – Pfüchama and 15th Southern Angami A/C – Khuzama have been selected for adoption during the year.
The main objective of the adoption has two folds: To analyze and access the living condition of the villages/Wards – be economy, education, health, social and create awareness and assist them in whatever way they can within their capacity and reach; and To develop intimation and cooperation amongst the visiting team members so as to bring about changes in the district.
The Kohima DPDB has been implementing this programme for the last three years and has already covered 18 villages so far.
