District Task Force (DTF) meeting in connection with Mission Indradhanush was held on May 29 at the DC’s office Kohima under the chairmanship of ADC Kohima, Lithrongla Tongpi.
At the meeting, chief medical officer (CMO) Kohima, Dr. Avino appraised the house on the recently held Japanese Encephalitis Campaign 2015 where around 74,500 children were vaccinated in the district achieving a target of 83%.
ZLO, CMO office Kohima, Dr. Aseno gave a briefing on Mission Indradhanush where 46 achieved full immunisation in the 1st round in April and 41 achieved full immunisation in the 2nd round in May 2015.
She said that the main concern before the 3rd round is community awareness about the Immunisation Programme, ASHAs to make the beneficiary list, drop out children and non-immunised children to be traced out and be brought for immunisation, importance of full immunisation and its benefits to be made known to the community and participation and support from community leaders.
She also spoke on leprosy and iodised salt.
Surveillance medical officer, WHO, Dr. Shiela said that Mission Indradhanush is a nation-wide intensified immunisation drive with special focus in 201 high focus districts with Nagaland having six high focus districts.
The goal is to vaccinate all unvaccinated/partially vaccinated children and pregnant women under Universal Immunisation Programme. She emphasized on the need for better coordination between departments and community awareness.
Dr. Aomeren, Urban PHC gave a briefing on outreach services including Special Outreach Health Camps and Urban Health and Nutrition Day (UHND). He also spoke on convergence of Programmes and Partners seeking active participation from Government agencies like Department of Social Welfare and School Education, NGOs, Community leaders, Ward councils, Religious Institutions etc.
