
Kohima Excise personnel manning Peducha Check gate on August 16 have seized contraband ganja from two separate vehicles amounting to 300 kgs worth approximately Rs. 7.5 lakh (street value).
In a press release, Superintendent of Kohima Excise Vikikhe Aomi informed that the Excise personnel basing on intelligence tip off intercepted both the vehicles at around 11 a.m. at Peducha Check gate and on checking the vehicles recovered the ganja from the respective vehicle trunks.
In this connection two persons identified as K. Lohru (26) son of E. Kapin of Merhulietsa Colony Kohima and driver of Omni Van (NL 01 T 8427) and K. Adahe (30) son of late CH. Kaikho of AG Colony Kohima and driver of Omni Van (NL 01 T 7914) were arrested.
According to the release, both the arrested persons during initial interrogation disclosed that one woman identified as Noami currently staying at AG Colony Kohima hired the vehicles and promised to pay the drivers Rs. 8000 each for transporting the contraband ganja to Dimapur.
The Excise check gate personnel was led by assistant inspector Excise Pusukhong, head constable Lamsai and constables Lhoukuolie, Aongsen, Khruvotso, Kehoshe, Penshak, Akho and Akup.
Excise Kohima informed that a case has been registered under NDPS Act 1985 and investigation was on to apprehended the alleged accused woman.
