Kohima district is preparing for the rollout of the Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA), a government initiative aimed at holistic development in tribal regions. The campaign will run from June 15 to 30, 2025 across the country.
DAJGUA, led by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, brings together 17 central ministries to deliver 25 focused interventions in areas such as education, healthcare, livelihood, and infrastructure.
To prepare for the district-level implementation, a coordination meeting was held on June 12 at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, chaired by DC Kohima, B. Henok Buchem. He shared insights from a national video conference and emphasized the importance of joint departmental efforts for a successful launch.
A major component of the campaign is the “Dharti Aaba Abhiyan – Awareness and Benefit Saturation Camps,” which will be held at village and cluster levels. The camps will offer services like Aadhaar enrolment, ration cards, Ayushman Bharat health coverage, vaccination drives, and access to key welfare schemes including PM-KISAN, MGNREGA, and social pensions.
In Kohima district, 27 villages in Chiephobozou, Botsa, Jakhama, Kohima Sadar, and Sechu Zubza subdivisions have been selected for these camps.
The state-level launch of DAJGUA will take place on June 18 at the DC Office Complex, Kohima. Departments will showcase their services, and community members can access them directly at the venue. Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Rorheu Pesieye will serve as the Nodal Officer for the programme. Stakeholder departments have pledged full cooperation to ensure the initiative reaches every eligible citizen.
