Kohima gears up for monsoon preparedness drive

Deputy Commissioner of Kohima, B. Henok Buchem, has informed that a district-wide mass social work will be conducted on April 10, 2026, beginning at 7 am, as part of monsoon preparedness measures.
The initiative aims to prevent clogging and ensure public hygiene ahead of the rainy season. For Kohima town, team leaders will coordinate with designated officials to arrange garbage trucks for efficient disposal. Collected waste is to be transported to the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) Waste Dumping Site below IG Stadium, under the supervision of KMC. Ward Councillors and Colony/Ward chairmen have been requested to mobilize residents at the grassroots level, while the Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) will oversee business establishments along the TCP Gate–Keziekie stretch. In sub-divisions and villages, respective Administrative Officers will spearhead similar activities. Therefore, Deputy Commissioner urged citizens to actively contribute to the mass social work.
