Kohima hosts education heritage exhibition on NE

DIMAPUR

Minister of Higher Education and Tourism, Temjen Imna Along, inaugurated a week-long archival exhibition titled “Development of Education in North Eastern India” on August 8 at Capital Convention Centre, Kohima.
According to PIB report, the exhibition is jointly organised by the National Archives of India and the Department of Higher Education, Government of Nagaland.
Highlighting the historical evolution of education in the North East, particularly Nagaland, the exhibition showcases rare archival documents, photographs, correspondences, and policy papers that trace the region’s educational growth and institutional reforms.
Temjen Imna Along also launched the Digital Exhibition and unveiled the Exhibition Brochure, terming the initiative a milestone in preserving and promoting the educational heritage of the region.
Dignitaries present included Dr. Tseilhoutuo (Ato) Rhutso MLA, Director General of National Archives of India Samar Nanda, Secretary of Higher & Technical Education Sarita Yadav, Ex-officio Director of Higher Education V. Lovitoly Sema, Deputy Director of National Archives of India Syed Farid Ahmad, Dr. Devendra Kumar Sharma, and Commissioner & Secretary of Art & Culture Athel O. Lotha, among others. The event was attended by senior officials, scholars, educators, and students.
The exhibition aims to inspire future generations by highlighting the vision and efforts that shaped modern education in the region. It is open to the public from August 8 to 14, 2025.
