Kohima-Jessami road blockade enters 12th day; to continue

DIMAPUR, JUL 28 (NPN)

Even as the ongoing blockade of all NHIDCL-related works/activities entered 12th day, the aggrieved landowners affected by Kohima-Jessami two lane road project (Packages 2B-5) Monday informed that there has been no response till date from National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).
In a statement , convenor of aggrieved landowners Kiiveliiyi Chuzho disclosed that lack of concern exhibited by NHIDCL towards the welfare of the affected people has only strengthened the resolve of the landowners to continue their protest till a resolution was reached.
Chuzho also said the aggrieved landowners made multiple attempts to engage with NHIDCL and seek a fair and timely resolution for damages caused to their properties. However, he said, the landowners have been met with silence and apathy from the authorities. Chuzho said the “blatant disregard” for the well-being and rights of the affected individuals left the landowners with no choice but to escalate their protest and block all NHIDCL-related works and activities until their demands were met.
Taking exception to NHIDCL’s “inaction and indifference”, the aggrieved landowners announced their decision to continue to be block all NHIDCL-related works and activities until the issue was resolved and adequately compensated for damages incurred.
The aggrieved landowners also urged concerned companies to find alternate routes as no NHIDCL-related vehicles would be allowed to pass through from Sedzu Bridge to Lanye Bridge.
