Kohima-Jessami road project: Aggrieved landowners threaten ‘own course of action’

Aggrieved Landowners of Kohima-Jessami Two Lane Construction package IIB, III, IV and V have threatened to take its own course of action if the state government and NHDICL failed to come up with positive solution at the earliest concerning lateral damage compensation.

In a press release, convenor Kuveluyi Chuzho and co-convenor Lhikupe Kapfo expressed dismay over delaying solution from the state government and NHIDCI regarding lateral damage compensation since 2021.

The aggrieved landowners stated that many verifications and assessments were done by the district level verification committee since 2021 and submitted to state government & NHIDCL for approval. However, they said no concrete solution and payment were given to the aggrieved landowners.

The signatories said that many landowners were left with no home to stay since 2021 due to properties damage by the physical work of the EPC contractor.

With much hardship and suffering, they said aggrieved landowners had given enough patients to the state government, district administration and NHDICL to come up with concrete solution but no solution was given so far.

Therefore, aggrieved landowners said they have “no more patient to wait”, but would “directly take its own course of action” if the state government & NHDICL fail to come up with positive solution at the earliest.

They further said that numerous agitations, request and ultimatums written to district administration, executive director NHIDCL (RO) Kohima, managing director NHIDCL (HQ) New Delhi, but no positive solution was given to solve the lateral damage compensation since 2021 to 2025.

Aggrieved land owners have also urged the deputy chief minister and minister in-charge of National Highway TR Zeliang to look into the genuine matter and take serious action to solve the issue at the earliest.
