Kohima Old Age Home celebrates foundation day

Kohima Old Age Home celebrated its 14th foundation day at Old Age Home premises, Meriema on Thursday with Director of Social Welfare Nagaland, Merangtsungba Aier as special guest. 
Speaking at the programme, Aier stated that the obstacles and challenges that the director and managing director of Old Age Home, Neithonuo Liegise has faced could not be compared to any other. He extolled the director for her courage, dedication and care she had given to the elderly people for 14 years. 
Aier also mentioned that among the 9 Old Age Home in Nagaland, the ministry of social justice had approved Kohima Old Age Home as one of the best and called upon the others to strive for the best. He also extended best wishes for good life of all the members living there.  
Kohima Old Age Home was established in 2005, pioneered by Neithonuo Leigese under the aegis of Good Samaritan Women Society.  Their vision is to provide and promote quality geriatric care with secure environment, to support the old aged with dignity and encourage them to complete their life journey peacefully.
For admission, priority has been provided for the senior citizens who are above 60 years of age from across Nagaland belonging to disadvantaged sections and for those who are childless, neglected or have non to attend to them.   
Neithonuo Liegise informed that there are 25 members at present that includes 4 men and 21 women.  
The programme was blessed with invocation by UBC pastor, Rev. Rachülie Vihienuo followed with welcome address by Kavini Theünuo. Candle lighting was also held along with the cake cutting by the oldest resident who is over 90 years of age.
