The Kohima old age home observed its 11th foundation day at its home Merimee below New High court on Monday with secretary rural development Kelei Zeliang IAS as the special guest. Zeliang in his address appreciated and acknowledged the managing director Old Age Home Neithonuo Liegise for her commitment and dedication to take care of the old aged people which everybody cannot do. He said Neithonuo sacrificed a comfortable life for the old people to live and die in dignity.
Encouraging the managing director based from the Bible, Zeliang said whoever do good works for others would be richly rewarded from heaven. He reminded the inmates that life on earth was so short and should not be discourages for whoever they are but should be grateful to the lord.
Managing director Old Age Home, Neithonuo Liegise in her report of the home shared that she started the home as per the revelation based from the Bible James 1:27 during prayer and fasting programme. She said at first she was not bold enough to take the job as the task was not easy, however after confirmation from God, she said God led her accordingly though she struggled a lot in the initial stages.
Liegise testified how God blessed the home to get the present location and material blessing through well wishers for infrastructure development. Justifying many criticisms from the society on starting the home, she said the home was much needed in “our” society as many aged persons were left uncared, lived in unhygienic conditions with no proper nutrition and medical attention. She said it was so painful to see some parents left uncared by their own children and some parents with no children to take care of them.
She said the home provides happy stay with encouragement and teaches from the word of God to die peacefully in the Lord. She said many aged people died here with respect and honour. Liegise informed that at present the home has 22 aged persons and 24 persons have already died from this home during the last 11 years.
The programme was led by Neithonuo, invocation prayer said by Akumtila Kikon Faith Harvest Church Kohima, welcome address delivered by Menuoneituo Chadi consultant Good Samaritan Women Society, remembering of the departed souls was held with 3 minutes silent prayer while 3 residents shared their experiences at the home.
