Kohima police arrest absconder from Andhra

Kohima police with assistance from Andhra Pradesh police arrested a person who had absconded after misappropriating construction materials (meant for construction of culverts under four-lane project) to the tune of Rs. 25 lakh.

According to Kohima police PRO, following a written complaint from NH-29 four-lane construction authority against one of the employees on May 31, 2018, a case was registered with Sechü (Zubza) Police Station, Kohima.

In the course of investigation, PRO said assistance was sought from local police of Guduru Rural Police Station, Andhra Pradesh to apprehend the accused person. On receiving input from sources that the accused was on a visit to his native village to attend the celebration of a festival, PRO said a three-member team of Kohima Police left for Andhra Pradesh on September 28, 2018 and apprehended the absconder with the assistance from local police.

The accused has been identified as Kovvuru Nagaraju (an engineer cum accountant under the four-lane construction project), son of Kovvuru Venkata Subbayya, Harijanawada Vinduru village, Nellore district, Andhra Pradesh. The arrested accused has been brought back to Kohima for further investigation of the case, PRO said.
