Kohima police issue traffic advisories

To ensure effective management of traffic during the Hornbill Festival, Kohima police has issued a set of traffic regulations.

In view of the visit of the Union Home Minister on December 1, 2018 at Naga Heritage Complex, Kisama, the following traffic regulations will be enforced as part of the security arrangement: No parking along the road from 3 AR Helipad to Raj Bhavan via LCS Building, TCP Gate, Classic Island and from Raj Bhavan to Kisama along NH-2. Any vehicle found parked along the road will be towed away and necessary action will be initiated against vehicle owners. Only vehicles with car passes will be allowed entry into Gate No.-I/Main Gate of Naga Heritage Complex and they shall be parked at the following designated parking zones as per car pass allotment: Vehicles with Car Pass ‘Z’ (White with Red Background) and ‘O’ (White with Blue Background) shall be parked in the area above the Bamboo Conference Hall. Vehicles with Car Pass ‘Y’ (White with Green Background) shall be parked in the area inside WW-II Museum Complex. Vehicle with Car Pass ‘X’ (White with Light Blue Background) and ‘T’ (Black with Yellow Background) shall be parked in parking area near Gate- II.
Further, all officials and the general public have been requested to reach Kisama by 2:30 pm on December 1 as traffic movement will be restricted to facilitate safe and smooth movement of the Home Minister and his entourage.
Entry of heavy vehicles into Kohima will be restricted at Inter-State Police check gate, Khuzama and at By-pass traffic police booth from 8 am till 10pm. 
Commercial trucks will be restricted in Kohima town from 8 am till 8 pm with the exception of trucks on Hornbill related duties. All loading and unloading of goods in Kohima town should be completed by 8 am.
Traffic regulation at Secretariat: In view of the 55th Statehood Day Celebration at Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza on December 1, the following traffic regulations will be enforced: Only vehicles with appropriate car passes (‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’) will be allowed entry to Secretariat Plaza. Parking outside the main gate of Secretariat plaza will be free for the public. No vehicle will be allowed parking by the roadside from 6 am onwards during the Statehood Day Celebrations at the following routes: from BSNL Telephone Exchange till Classic Island, from Raj Bhavan till MS Classic Island and from MS Classic Island till Secretariat Plaza via Razhü Point.
Heavy vehicles will not be allowed to ply from High School Junction to Assembly Secretariat via Sanuoru subway during the Statehood Day programme. Heavy vehicles will not be allowed to ply in Kohima town till the programme is over. All loading and unloading of goods in Kohima town should be completed by 6am.
Traffic regulation for Night Carnival: Kohima police have issued the following traffic arrangements during the Hornbill Night Carnival from December 1-10, 2018: No vehicle will be allowed to park along the road on the right side from ‘Y’ junction till Post Office. However, single parking will be allowed on the left side. No vehicle will be allowed to park along the route from Northern Gate of Local Ground till Razhu Point. Any vehicle found parked in the mentioned area will be towed away and towing charges will be levied on vehicle owners.
The road from ‘Y’ junction till Razhu Point will be a one way down only. No vehicle will be allowed to enter from Razhu Point towards Kohima Local Ground and from Congress Bhavan towards ‘Y’ junction. Upgoing vehicles will ply the normal route through D-block colony.
The traffic regulation will be enforced from 4 pm till the Night Carnival/Bazaar is over.
