Kohima police have launched a crackdown on the sale of suspected counterfeit cosmetic products and registered a case based on credible intelligence.
According to Kohima police PRO, during checks conducted in five shops around Razhü Point and Y-junction areas, police seized a large quantity of fake cosmetic and beauty products falsely branded under reputed names, including Lakme.
PRO said a case has been registered with the North police station under various Section of BNS. Police arresetd five persons in connection with the case and were currently in judicial custody, and investigation underway.
Further, pro stated that such counterfeit products not only infringed on the intellectual property rights of genuine companies but also posed serious health risks to consumers due to potentially harmful ingredients.
Kohima police have advised the public to purchase cosmetic products only from authorised dealers and to verify the authenticity of products before use. Police have asked the people to immediately report any suspicious products to the nearest police station.
Kohima police reiterated the commitment to curbing illegal trade and ensuring public safety through strict enforcement of the law.
