DIMAPUR, AUG 7 (NPN): Kohima Science College (Autonomous), Jotsoma inaugurated its first-ever Inter-Collegiate Tournament 2026 with a grand opening ceremony at the KSCJ Auditorium on August 6.
The tournament features men’s basketball, women’s basketball and men’s futsal, bringing together student-athletes from colleges across Nagaland.
A total of 11 guest colleges are participating in the tournament, including Tetso College, Dimapur; St. Joseph’s College, Jakhama; Alder College, Kohima; Nagaland University School of Agricultural Sciences (SAS); Capital College of Higher Education, Kohima; Sazolie College, Kohima; Patkai Christian College, Chümoukedima; Oriental College, Kohima; Fazl Ali College, Mokokchung; Kohima College; and Baptist College, Kohima.
Addressing the gathering, Principal Dr. Temjenwabang expressed hope that the inaugural edition of the tournament would pave the way for greater inter-college interaction and collaboration in the years ahead. He encouraged the participating teams to compete with integrity, determination and the true spirit of sportsmanship.
Dr. Temjenwabang later declared the tournament open, followed by the ceremonial kick-off marking the commencement of the sporting event. The oath of sportsmanship was administered by the Games and Sports Secretary of the Kohima Science College Students’ Union (KSCSU), reaffirming the participants’ commitment to fair play and discipline.
The inaugural programme was chaired by Moarenba I. Imchen, while the invocation was offered by Chaplain, CCF Jotsoma Kivipu Jimomi. Delivering the welcome address, Vipito Achumi said the tournament was envisioned as more than just a sporting competition, describing it as a celebration of friendship, teamwork, discipline, respect and true sportsmanship.
The programme concluded with the rendition of the KSCJ College Anthem by the KSCJ Choir.
The tournament marks a significant milestone for Kohima Science College, reflecting its commitment to promoting sportsmanship, leadership and stronger ties among educational institutions through healthy competition.
