Kohima Science College Jotsoma (KSCJ) new two storied building of Leone (Girl) Hostel phase-II renovated basketball court was inaugurated by additional director, Higher Education, Dr. I. Anungla Aier on November 11.
A press release by KSCJ stated that the hostel has capacity for 37 students and was constructed under funding of University Grants Commission (UGC) Scheme 2015-2017 with a budget of 70 lakhs. Earlier, Aier also inaugurated the renovated basketball court, which was funded by the KSCJ Alumni 1996 passed out batch at the cost of 4.5 Lacs some 20 meters away from the newly constructed hostel.
Speaking at the formal ceremony, Aier said, 2 new assets were added to the college through the efforts of the teaching faculty, staff, students, Alumni and well wishers. Appreciating the building committee members, she said, the dedicated efforts of the committee members comprising of Dr. Limatemjem, asst. professor of Zoology and Selie Puro, asst. professor of Geography whose judicious utilization of fund was an excellent venture and urged everyone to follow suit. Aier while appreciating the yeomen service of Alumni 1996 passed out batch expected that their investment would be harvested by their children in the near future.
A brief report given by the women hostel construction committee Dr. Limatemjem wherein the construction was started on June 16, 2015 and completed recently with an approximate duration of two years and five months.
A separate report was also given by the Alumni 1996 passed out batch on basketball court renovation, Moatemsu, Jio Centre Manager, Kohima reported that the funding process was made through free will donations from Alumni friends circle and well wishers.
The renovation was started in May 2016 and was completed recently with a duration of one year six months
Earlier, Selie Puro led the formal inauguration ceremony, president, EU, KSCJ, Sehuto Kezo invoked God’s blessing, short speech was delivered by Dr. Lily Sema, principal, KSCJ and dedicatory prayer was performed by Er. Khoto Zetsuvi, chairman, Campus Christian Fellowship (CCF).
