Kohima smart city to organise street carnival

Kohima Smart City in collaboration with Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) and other government departments, local music, fitness institutes and citizen-based organisations would be organising “Kohima Street Carnival” from September 29-October 3 along New NST to Razhu Point covering an array of events.

In a press release, Kohima Smart City Development Limited, chief executive officer, Kezhazelhou Theunuo informed that Smart Cities Mission (SCM) under Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has planned numerous events across 100 Smart cities as part of 75 weeks of celebrations under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

As one of the initiatives, Smart Cities have been advised to undertake 75-hour urban transformation implementation event with the objective of reimagining public spaces in their cities keeping in mind COVID appropriate behavior.

Some of the events lined up are Nagaland piano festival organised in collaboration with Brilliante, Zumba in collaboration with De Operettas Music Institute, busking in collaboration with TAFMA, street health clinic for senior citizens with office of the chief medical officer, flower exhibition and sale with Kohima Village Women Organisation, Cyclothon with Nagaland Mountain Biking Association, blood donation camp with Voluntary Blood Donors Association, etc.

Other events include street food festival, painting competition, walkathon and street carnival for children.

The celebration would be launched on September 29, 10 a.m., at Old NST site by the advisor for UDD and DMA, Dr. N Nicky Kire. All citizens have been invited to be a part of the celebration.
