Advisor for IT, Science & Technology and New & Renewable Energy, Mmhonlumo Kikon, Saturday announced that the state government has decided to provide free wifi hotspots in the state capital.
The advisor made this announcement while gracing the Nagaland Innovation Expo (NIE) as chief guest at Kohima Science College (KSC), Jotsoma here on Saturday.
Kikon also said that the state government would also provide free wifi in all DC offices in 11 districts, three campuses of Nagaland University and one free wifi hot spot at KSC.
He informed that free wifi hotspots would be implemented in a few months time after completing the necessary infrastructural set up.
While appreciating the initiative of NIE, advisor announced that Nagaland Innovation Expo would be an annual event from next year. Kikon said this idea of innovation expo was good beginning and in the long run it would be helpful to the talented youths in the state.
He expressed confidence that this initiative by youth and state government could be successful and progress in future. The advisor, however, reminded that any good initiative started and invested by the government would fail without seriousness in their effort.
The programme was chaired by asst. prof. department of Botany, Weynitso Kapfo; invocation prayer was given by KSC vice-principal Tokheni, ; welcome address was delivered by KSC principal, Dr. Lily Sema; introduction on NIE by KSCSU science club secretary, Keyileurangbe Thou, while vote of thanks was proposed by KSCSU general secretary, K Puthenhenmei Loachy.
Various innovations expo items by the students of KSC and other college were displayed and explained to the chief guest and visitors. Various other science exhibitions were also displayed during the programme, which was organized by Kohima Science College Students’ Union sponsored by department of Science and Technology and co-sponsored by Higher Education department.
