A Winter Night’s Dream, an original musical based on a Sumi Naga folktale, will stage its first production on March 7 and 8, at the Regional Centre of Excellence for Music and Performing Arts (RCEMPA), Jotsoma-Kohima. The shows will begin at 6:00 pm on both days. Rooted in the Sumi Naga folk story “Nisapa and Nisala,” the musical explores themes of forbidden love, longing, loss and redemption. The production uniquely blends Western and Naga indigenous music styles, with music and lyrics composed by Atüna Shikhu and orchestration by Payio Kayina.
The independent project is conceived by Atüna Shikhu in collaboration with the Margaret Shishak School of Music, Patkai Christian College. The production brings together over 40 participants, including singers, dancers and an ensemble cast. The event is supported by TAFMA and Fingerprint Nagaland.
