Kohima Village Students Union organises 1st Education Fair

The Kohima Village Students Union (KVSU) organised its 1st Educational Fair at the Kohima village council hall, Kohima on Thursday. Convener of the Education Fair, Albert Seluokuolie Rutsa, informed that the event was organized with the intention of providing the right platforms for students with an aim to guide them towards pursuing their dreams, which has been a long-standing need. He mentioned that many students face confusion regarding their career choices after their class 10 and 12 exams, and this fair serves as a platform to give them the right direction.


The convenor also said, the fair also assists students who require loans by featuring stalls set up by various banks. The stalls cater to different educational backgrounds, such as artificial intelligence, coaching, music, and more. “This fair provides an opportunity for individuals to make informed decisions about their careers, not only within Kohima but also outside the state and country”, he stated. He also shared that due to the positive response from the students’ participation today, they are considering expanding their programme.


Rutsa informed that more than 20 schools participated and 31 stalls were set up for educational guidance including banks who guided the students in helping them to provide educational loans. He added that they had expected around 1000 students but the turnout was more than 1500. Three young entrepreneurs shared their experiences and journey of their small start-up.


Proprietor of “Kenbel”, Keneisezo Belho, talked about his journey of how he started his business with just Rs. 2300. He has embarked on an eco-conscious entrepreneurial journey by introducing Kenbel Pencils in Nagaland. His childhood passion for business and dream of creating his own pencil brand led him to the innovative idea of making eco-friendly pencils from old newspaper prints. He also encouraged the students not to be afraid to dream big and start small because every hardworking small business grows big if they are dedicated.


Keneisalie Rutsa, a student of class 10 from Christ King Higher Secondary School who earns his own school fee from “Basket Making”, shared his testimony of how he turned his hobby of basking weaving into his means of livelihood at such young age.


He talked on how one can utilize their skills to not only set a strong foundation for their own future but also earn something for themselves and ease the financial burden on their parents which he believes is a big blessing.
Thejangunuo Linyü (proprietor of Linyü Accessories), a locally made jewellery from Kohima village also shared her experiences on how she started her own jewellery line with her sister and never gave up in-spite of their challenges and struggles.


She also highlighted that consistency and patience are very important when it comes to keeping a business running. She said having faith in the Lord and working hard had made her reach where she is today. CEO, Eduversity Group, Prakash Jason Nayak, shared an exhortation on career mentorship. The programme was chaired by president, KVSU Vilalhou Sorhie, invocation was offered by associate pastor, BRC Kohima, Dr. Mhalevilie Sote.
