Konyak Union issues guidelines for visitors to Mon district

Affirming its commitment to ensure safety and security of all visitors to the Mon district, the Konyak Union (KU) has announced the implementation of mandatory procedures for tourists and visitors intending to explore Mon district.
In a press release, KU president Tingthok Konyak and social & cultural secretary Kaiba Konyak notified that with immediate effect all tourists and outside visitors to the Mon district were required to report to the KU office Mon and obtain a clearance certificate before venturing into the district.


The apex Konyak tribal body has also informed the visitors to obtain a guide from KU office Mon to accompany them during their visit in the district especially when travelling to the remote and border villages. KU stated that the measure was initiated for the security and safety of visitors as well as to avoid any misgivings or wrong reports about the region.
The union cautioned that any tourist or outside visitor found within the district without the necessary clearance certificate and guide would be questioned by KU authorities.


Further, KU urged the scholars, writers, and individuals engaged in research activities to obtain a clearance certificate from KU office before undertaking any thesis, journal writing, videography, documentary production, or report related to the Mon district.
KU has directed the village authorities and councils to check and ensure that the tourists or outside visitors carry the clearance certificate from the KU office within respective jurisdiction. KU informed that defaulters should be immediately reported to the undersigned Office. “This initiative is a proactive step in response to past incidents involving tourists and visitors, and it is aimed at fostering a safer and more secure environment for everyone,” KU stated.
