DIMAPUR: The Konyak Union warmly welcomed cabinet minister Gabriel Denwang Wangsu of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, who paid a solidarity visit to the Union Office in Mon following the recent natural disaster in the district.
In a press release issued by KU informed that Konyak Union president K. Yamao Konyak expressed heartfelt gratitude for the Minister’s presence, stating that the visit reflects the enduring bond of brotherhood among the Konyak people across state boundaries and demonstrates unity and compassion during this difficult time.
During his address, Wangsu conveyed condolences to the bereaved families and assured the people of Mon of the full support and solidarity of the Konyak community in Arunachal Pradesh. As a gesture of humanitarian assistance, he extended relief support to the disaster-affected families.
Deputy Commissioner of Mon, Wennyei Konyak, thanked the Minister for his generosity, noting that his continued support underscores the strong ties between the Konyak people of Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.
The Union also expressed appreciation to the All Assam Naga Welfare Society for extending relief assistance and solidarity to affected families. In addition, Kunki Chowdhury, former candidate from Guwahati Central and member of the Shrimanta Shanker Society, Assam, visited the Union Office to convey condolences and provide relief support.
Further extending its outreach, the Konyak Union delegation visited Charaideo District, Assam, where it distributed relief to flood-affected families and held a meeting with the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of Mon and Charaideo. The Union clarified during the meeting that the alleged “Dikhu Dam” circulating on social media and certain news platforms is non-existent.
The Konyak Union expressed sincere appreciation to all individuals and organisations who have stood in solidarity with the people of Mon during this challenging period.
