Kohima Press Club (KPC) Tuesday observed its 14th foundation day at the KPC Conference Hall, which was attended by more than 30 members of the club including present and former executives.
KPC was established on January 20, 2001 by a group of likeminded senior journalists with the objective to promote the welfare of the press fraternity.
At the programme, former KPC presidents, H Chishi, KV Nurumi and Kopelo Krome delivered short speeches and shared their experiences with the club members.
They recalled how the press club came into being and how it continued to serve as a source of support to the welfare of the press fraternity in Kohima so far. Encouraging the younger journalists to uphold journalistic ethics, the former members urged all to rededicate themselves to the profession.
Former general secretaries Vibou Seyie and Khriezovonuo Lhoungu and senior journalist and member KPC Okenjeet Sandham also shared their views and gave suggestions for the welfare of KPC and its members.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by KPC joint secretary, Ng Solomon Sha, who also invoked God’s blessing. KPC vice president, Ketusielie Viluo delivered the welcome address while annual reports were given by the general secretary, Alice Yhoshü and president, Xavier Rutsa on behalf of the treasurer.
The closing remarks were delivered by the KPC president, Xavier Rutsa. A gift exchange was also organized as part of the foundation day programme.
