
A two-day programme under Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP) was conducted by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kohima on September 8-9 at Nerhe Pheza and New Tesophenyu villages.
A press release by KVK Kohima stated that on the first day, 250 brown layer chicks (BV380) and feeds were distributed to the beneficiaries of Nerhe Pheza village.
At the programme, ACTO (animal science) Dr. Temjennungsang and technical officer (farm) Dr. Sesenlo Kath briefed the farmers regarding the rearing and management of layer poultry.
On the second day, seeds of chinese cabbage, broccoli, cabbage and pea were distributed under TSP to the beneficiaries of New Tesophenyu village.
Resource persons, SMS (agronomy) Puchono Kweho and SMS (plant protection) Eliseni Tsopoe also imparted training and spoke on the topics, “package and practices on rabi crops and integrated pest” and “disease management in rabi crops” respectively.
A training programme was also organised on September 8 at L Khel Kohima village under Nutri-Sensitive Agricultural Resources and Innovations (NARI) where resource person ACTO (horticulture), Khekali Sema highlighted on the topic “winter vegetable cultivation” and also conducted a demonstration on ginger candy preparation.
