Krishi Vigyan Kendra Mokokchung launches KSSW

Krishi Vigyan Kendra Mokokchung on December 6 launched the five-day Krishi Samridhi Swarna Week (KSSW) in collaboration with District Soil Conservation Office and National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development at KVK Campus, Yisemyong.


KSSW is a five-day event marking the Golden Jubilee Celebration of the KVKs across the country and aims to uplift the farming community through trainings, farmers scientist interaction, workshops, and animal health camps. As such the Kendra will be organizing and conducting different programmes during the KSSW in different locations.


During the launching programme, senior scientist and head KVK Mokokchung Dr. Keviletsu Khate highlighted on the importance of the celebration of the KSSW by the KVKs across the nation and the role and the various activities carried out by the Kendra.

He also gave an insight about importance of the farmers registration in the Kisan Sarathi Portal which provides multilingual support to farmers in seeking the advisories in the domains of agriculture, horticulture, fishery and animal husbandry, through a multi-lingual & multi-media ICT platform.


DDM NABARD Poji congratulated the KVK on the occasion of golden jubilee celebration and acknowledged the Kendra for its collaboration with them for the welfare of the farming community and expressed the beauty and essence in collaborating and convergence.

He also encouraged the farmers to implement the scientific technologies effectively so as to move ahead and stressed on the marketing aspect which is one of the motivation for the farmers.


SDO Changtongya Priscilla gave a detailed speech on the World Soil Day 2024 theme “Caring for Soils: Measure, Monitor and Manage” to the participants of the programme.
She explained how soils are formed in nature, how long it takes to form an inch of the soil and stressed on the sustainable management of soil for conservation by carefully understanding our soil and taking care of it likewise.


During the launching programme Soil health cards were distributed for the farmers under TDF Aliba. An exhibition was also organised by the Kendra where different products and technologies were showcased to the participants during which the farmers actively interacted with the KVK experts.

Animal health camp was also conducted where the participants received deworming medicines and vitamin mineral mixture.


Distribution of chicks, soil moisture indicator, knapsack sprayer also was a part of the programme. Altogether 40 participants from Chuchuyimlang, Aliba, New Yaongyimti, Old Yaongyimti, Mongsenyimti and Mopungchuket attended the launching programme.


Later Pig Breeding unit established with support from NABARD was inaugurated by Poji, DDM Mokokchung and Vermicomposting unit constructed with the aid from District Soil Conservation Office was also inaugurated by Priscilla SDO Changtongya.
