DIMAPUR: Kuki Students’ Organisation Nagaland (KSON) has clarified that Tony Singsit, son of L. Singsit, IPS (Retd.), is not the president of KSON and has never been associated with the students’ body as an office bearer. While he may be regarded as a member by virtue of being from Saijang village under Peren district, the organisation said portraying him as president was “entirely incorrect and misleading.”
In a statement, KSON president, Thangkhanmang and general secretary, Paojamang urged all concerned to verify facts properly before issuing public statements to avoid misleading the public and creating unnecessary misunderstandings.
The organisation further warned Kuki individuals from Nagaland against commenting on issues concerning Manipur, stating that conflicts in Manipur were best left to the people of Manipur to resolve. It reminded that Kukis of Nagaland have historically been part of the Naga movement and cautioned that students, public and media personnel must desist from making any comment, debate or publication concerning Manipur.
KSON said it would not be responsible for any problem arising if community members failed to adhere to the directive. The statement was issued in the interest of public peace, harmony and communal understanding.
