Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) and All Nagaland Graduate Teachers Forum (ANGTF) have extended support to agitating ANTAG over the demand for regularisation of service.
KSU president T Noklem Konyak and general secretary A Pangnan, in a statement, expressed dismay over the plight of ad-hoc teachers and appealed the state government to resolve the matter with “utmost priority”.
While affirming its support and solidarity with ANATG, KSU said the rights of the aggrieved teachers have been “denied without any justifiable basis.”
KSU maintained that while other states were striving to develop world class school infrastructure and quality education, the state government did not “shy away from torturing and harassing the teachers since inception.”
KSU also claimed that in Nagaland the “public service ethics” was no more ‘No Work, No pay’ but instead it was “Only Work but no Pay and No Dignity.”
KU questioned how would the state government strive to empower the students without empowering the teachers?
KSU stated that there was “no legitimate ground” for denying and delaying the demands for regularisation any further when the department’s justification citing court order was invalidated.
ANGTF: All Nagaland Graduate Teachers Forum (ANGTF) also extended its “strong support” to ANATG-2015 batch’s demand for service regularisation.
In a press release, ANGTF convener Kekuolhouthie and secretary Temjenyapang expressed sympathy for the agitating teachers comprising of nursing and pregnant mothers, who were on hunger strike.
The forum has appealed to the department to “exert all its possible effort” to resolve the pending issue before the situation goes out of control.
Further, the forum appealed to the state cabinet ministers to “apply their political will/wisdom” and break the stalemate between the two parties.
