Khiamniungan Students’ Union Tuensang (KSUT) organized a Career Awakening Program for high school and college students on November 7.
A press release from KSUT president Pongom Khiam stated that the resource persons for the event were faculty member, Dr. Ayangti Longkumer, and staff of North East Christian University, Dimapur, Pesha Thsoilamthio.
Ayangti, who is also a professional career counsellor, talked about academics as a career option, its pros and cons, and the qualities an academician needs. She asserted that research work should have market value for it to be viable.
Pesha Thsoilamthio highlighted the importance of skill — the difference between talent, hobbies and skills, how skill development is one of the alternatives to counter unemployment and the creation of various jobs through skill development like farm based skill, handicrafts and artistic works.
Earlier, a welcome note was delivered by KSUT president, Pongom Khiam and vote of thanks was delivered by the KSUT vice president.
