KTU NSCN (I-M) refutes rumours on Chassad incident

DIMAPUR, FEB 12 (NPN)

Kuki Tribal Union (KTU) of NSCN (I-M) has clarified the incident that occurred in Chassad on the night of February 10, stating that certain rumours circulating in sections of social media were incorrect.
In a statement, KTU secretary L. Khongsai said reports claiming that a Tangkhul Naga women’s team attempted to torch and burn down Chassad village were false. It also refuted allegations that Indian security forces were transporting Kuki militants from Burma (KNA-B) to Litan Sareikhong and neighbouring Sarkaphung villages.
KTU clarified that no Tangkhul Naga women’s team attacked Chassad village and that no Kuki militants were accompanying the Indian security forces.
According to KTU, Tangkhul Naga women had rushed to stop and check the movement of security forces in order to prevent militants from entering their area and to maintain peace following two recent incidents in neighbouring areas. It stated that their intentions were misunderstood.
KTU further appealed to the public not to circulate the video related to the incident and urged those who had received it to delete it and discourage others from sharing it. KTU said it would do its best to stabilise the situation and maintain peace and harmony in the area.
