KU (B) Tobu refutes charges

Konyak Union Tobu branch – KU (B) Tobu – claimed that apex NGO leaders, student leaders and village councils of Tobu-Mopong on January 20 unanimously resolved to boycott the Republic Day function and statement was issued in this regard with the consent of majority of people. Hence, the union denied the accusation of manipulation and disrupting peaceful co-existence.

Reacting to a press release of Angjangyang Ad hoc Town Committee chairman H Wanme that accused KU (B) Tobu of interfering in the administrative set up of Angjangyang, the union explained that the demand of Tobu-Mopong public to retain Mopong EAC under Tobu ADC concerned the State government and not to any individual/organisation.

Hence, no individual or organisation had the right to interfere or give decision, it stressed, adding the people of the area would continue to raise the issue until a positive response was received from the government.

The organisation also warned that any individual or group involving or interfering to disturb the rightful demand of Tobu-Mopong people resulting in creation of unwanted situation would be doing so at their own risk.

KU (B) Tobu said it was a historical fact that people of Tobu and Moka lived as one family since time immemorial, long before the government administrative post was created. And understanding the fact, the government had established the circle officer post at Tobu headquarters in 1956 for the people of Tobu and Mopong.

However, it said the words of Wanme created a disturbing atmosphere for the people of Tobu-Mopong, compelling KU (B) Tobu to issue a rejoinder to clarify the issue once and for all, this was stated in a press release issued by its president SA Ngamlao.
